The Unwanted Guest

Image
COVID-19 'the unwanted Atithi' by Devika taneja   A guest is someone who is invited to someone's home, whereas an unwanted or uninvited guest is someone who enters without permission.  According to our Indian culture and tradition, a   g uest, whether invited or uninvited, is a manifestation of God and must be treated with great warmth and hospitality. He should be greeted with a red carpet whenever and however he arrives, timing is irrelevant. 'Atithi Devo Bhava' is revered in India. An ATITHI  or to be more accurate, an uninvited Atithi visited our home, our nation, and our planet during the Covid pandemic.  We all initially thought the visitor might leave us in a few weeks, and if not in a few weeks, then perhaps in a few months, but there we were coping with it for couple of years, and all this time we were terrified but also strong.  Normally, due to our hectic and busy schedules, we do not get time to entertain ourselves or our guests, but th...

Where words fail ,Music speaks

Where Words Fail, Music Speaks. by Devika Taneja Humans use words to express their thoughts ,ideas and feelings but what if these words fail to express our emotions then to the rescue comes music. Music is a form of art   of working melody and rhythm in harmony. Music has played a major role in my life and has made it easier for me to overcome dark things in my life, for me the art of music is moonlight in gloomy night of life. When the world around becomes quite and still at night I listen to music , it is magical with its calm and soothing melodies it takes me to a new world . When I was young I was a sort of stubborn and aggressive child. At the age of 7  my mother bought me a synthesizer ,made me join music classes. There I learned playing different melodies on keyboard for about a year or two, during these years my mother saw a drastic change in my behaviour and personality. Learning music made me calm ,confident and more concentrated. My music teacher at school made me...
